5 activities that drive my sales no matter what

Success comes when you can be very clear and very specific in your activities. I think there is a little too much throwing spaghetti at the wall and hoping something sticks. Instead, I like to incorporate some very specific items into my week that move the needle forward.

  • Follow up. It is essential for my business. It is non-negotiable. I have a follow-up strategy depending upon the sort of enquiry. But the important thing is that you have a system to follow up and that you use it. It doesn’t have to be super complex or robust. Mine just lives in a list in Trello, it’s not complex because it doesn’t need to be.
  • Email marketing. I’ll be honest. I was very slack with my email list for months. Then I decided to make the commitment to add value to my community as often as possible- whether that be cool ebooks, blogs or free calls. The fastest way to let me tribe know about these amazing opportunities was via email. But I only send an email when I KNOW I can add value. Email marketing systems have some very robust capabilities, I recommend exploring your email system and seeing if you are using it to the best of its ability! But at minimum start an email list, even if it is just in an excel spreadsheet.
  • Instagram. You knew this was coming!! It’s my favourite place to hand out. I get to talk to my fabulous community. Jump on to stories and have a chat. Get my face on camera and do IGTVs. Plus find new amazing rural businesses to follow. Instagram is a cornerstone of my marketing, but it’s definitely not the only thing I do. Remember social media is to be social, not salesy so it’s a slow burn all about building relationships and adding value. Even if I am not posting on stories in my feed, I am definitely engaging and commenting to stay front of mind and connected!
  • Discovery call. I offer a 30 minute call to discover your strength to sell better. This call is perfect for my business. It helps me work out if I’m the right fit for my client. And it helps them see how I work and if they think it’s a good fit too! I think service based businesses need to have some sort of initial call. It sets the tone and helps you explore the working relationship.
  • Facebook groups. I don’t bang on promoting myself in Facebook groups, but I use them for market research. To understand what the market needs RIGHT now. Facebook groups filled with my ideal client helps me understand their unique challenges and allows me to align my offers to suit. As well as generates ideas for my content strategy! I particularly love hanging out in the HUB for rural business women- check it out here.
